Our 1st health issue - blood in stool and diarrhea

We've been feeding our family dogs with raw meat/raw veggie/fruit diet for over 2 years now. So Zella was no different. She ate her raw foods every day since her arrival until we faced an unpleasant issue - blood in her stool and diarrhea.

Went to the vet and got checked. The vet suggested it wouldn't be anything very serious and that it would probably pass, gave us some sparkling water solution for our puppy to drink, no antibiotics or any other type of drugs whatsoever.  We were just sent home.

I did some searches in the internet trying to figure out what could be the reason for such an issue and found some information on various intestine parasites, worms etc. But we hoped for the better since she got de-wormed at the breeders and upon arrival at our home, and according to the vet's advice we switched the raw food diet to a puppy 'sensitive' type kibble for the following 2 weeks.

In addition to the kibble I gave my little Zella bovine colostrum after reading some online articles on the benefits of the product. Bovine colostrum is a freeze-dried powder and is available in capsules or just canned powder. It aids in healing wounds, helps with digestion, it literally heals the intestines and is a good immune booster. Colostrum is a great thing when it comes to dealing with a sick pet.

There are many different brands of colostrum on the market but at that time I bought colostrum Plus powder by Simbiotics. This colostrum is intended for humans but it does work on pets too because it helped Zella get rid of the bloody-stool problem in a short period of time. I gave her one heaped teaspoon per feeding and one heaped tablespoon in between the feedings (mixed with a little bit of water). In two weeks there were no moretraces of blood in the stool and no more diarrhea. And then we switched back to the raw foods. But I continued mixing in colostum with the raw foods as well. It's just that I thought it would only do good for my little puppy.
